Since i am a born & bread east coaster, i am partial to set back front axles & spoked wheels. This started out as the D-R kit, added 24" scale inches to the frame, cut & chopped the hood to a set back axle and moved the springs / steering system to match. Added a lift axle, & the mixer from a Paystar 5000, which has a corrected & detailed drive chain. More RNK resin wheels & tires. and a DDC 8V-71 from the parts bin. Ap40 Attachments:

Looks good. Don't really know why the difference in east and west but surely is there. Mike Mike, East coast still enjoys the "grand-fathering in of older trucks" this means that for the most part, you can keep the beast in operation in the same layout as the year of build. We tend to use short, heavy trucks with set back front axles for tight turning a radius. Spoke wheels are still an option for 2012 model year trucks here. Mack still offers the double & triple all steel frame. our weight per axle restrictions are not nearly as tight or as strictly enforced here as they are on the west coast. Emission systems have only just begun to arrive on the scene, but even that is only beacuse of goverment regulations. It was not until about 15 years ago that we began to see more aluminum wheels becoming standard on east coast trucks, but at 40 below zerow they will crack & break twice as fast as steel. Ap40
