Your scratchbuilding is inspiring! And using styrene you are even "welding" things together just like the real ones. As for D rings, one approach is to shape a piece of styrene or brass bar to the appropriate size & shape then use it as a form to shape wire around. Solder is very easy to form however also easy to distort, brass wire is harder to work with (may require annealling) but more durable.

Ross, Things are looking good here on this rebuild and scratch build. The trailer looks great. For the D-rings, KFS used to sell some. They were made of brass wire ( bent into the shape of a triangle ) and plastic angle ( fineline ) . The look pretty good when done well.

Hi Gator, Im home off the ship all my modeling stuff is crossing the pond....i sound just like you when i say "ive found my next project" just picked up one of the original California Haulers with the passenger door pocket window and 3 section grill... partly assembled and poorly painted body pieces (presently in purple) the cab is closer in dimensions to the 60's trucks with no skirt under the doors and optional cab top accessories. you have to open the holes for lights etc and actual door handles... its really cool. Im going to take the hood, grill and radiator from an old glue bomb and make a 351 with butterfly hood.... almost wish i was back on the ship

Some cool news...I met this guy in my town (ukiah Ca) that is restoring an old 48 KW logger, late 40's bunks and cheese blocks super cool truck. In their searches (for a 51 off highway logger that was grandfathers) they had bought a 74 kwlogger and a 62 Pete logger just because they were is such good restorable shape. I had been over to see my mom and loaded up 4 milk crates with new (old) bearings and seals for trucks and cats to give to him...also grabbed a bunch of cat manuals and other stuff in which were the serial numbers for this cream/red pete im working on and another black and white one dad bought at the same time back in 62. I asked him in his searches if he would look for these to trucks (serial numbers in hand)so then we went and looked at the 62 he had bought 4 months earlier... Guess what! its the black and white my dad bought ne in 62 I hope to be the next owner of that truck
