Madill 009 SP yarder scratch built in 1/25 scale

Here is the latest build for my collection of logging equipment. it's all scratch built from Evergreen styrene. The actual yarder I'm building is a Weyerhaeuser unit that was destroyed in the eruption of Mt St Helens in 1980. The yarder's wreckage is still resting on Coldwater Ridge and can be seen today. The red yarder is a rebuilt one that shows what it will look like.

This one has to be a real challenge. It looks complicated.
What is the bucket looking thing on the ground near the yarder?

Hey isn't this the same unit that Fred Moses built with metal? I remember seeing it at the Harrisburg show when Mark and I were up there.

Dad Fred built an 046, they are a bigger yarder than this one.

Got the guy line winch assembly done today. home sick from work, so I had time to work on it between naps. also got all the guy line winches lined with hydraulics and such. Still need to add the line to the reels, but I will do that after I paint it.

If being home with a head cold has a positive side, is I can do a little modeling. Got the cab done except interior and safety screens over the windows. Also got the yarder assembly done also. The drums for it are show in some of the photos.

The carriage is now finished. Got all the decals on tonight, and stained all the guy lines. They will be unfurled when I get the 90' tower finished and the blocks hung on the top of it. once its all complete i'll take some good pics outside of it.

freakin unbelievable! That is truly an amazing monster. So how many hours so far into it? With all that styrene, both Plastruct & Evergreen, what cement do you find works the best?
