Thank you rick for pointing that out i did a search for a 387 this pic came up.i have another question correct me if i'm wrong are those 14x24 rubber on this truck and what are the differences between the 397 and 387.

I've always liked the 387/397 Petes too.
Where did the 397 work? Looks like an aggregate type trailer in a dry part of the US.
The sand 397 and the blue Pete would be cool projects.
Do you have the book "The Evolution of Class" by Warren A. Johnson? It's a good book with information on these two models.

this would be the pete 397 two were built one was a water tanker in Wyoming it was destroyed by fire the other one current where abouts i could only guess.

This is the rear suspension i'm most likely going for i did some looking around the net to identify the type of suspension it could be.conclusion it is a 6 rod possible Kenworth big 6

Yes your right but look at the fender skirt where the steering gear sits that back panel just above it has all these bends in it
