Hello everyone ! Thought I'd share my current "primary" model project with you. This truck is modeled after an actual rig that was hauling pole logs in Eastern Ontario back in the early 90's. I got to know this truck pretty well as I helped to repair the brakes one cold November day.
I was inspired to build it because I liked the "S" or "F" series 2500+ and 2600+ trucks from IH and this was by far the heaviest spec'd rig I've seen in the 2500 series to this day.
The real truck was built as a "Roll Off" rig originally, spec'd with a 425hp 3406 CAT turned way UP! The mini-lift axle and fifth wheel were added when the original owner's son was looking to "log" some forest the family owned. The truck was not truly spec'd for loggin, but it did an admirable job with 46k axles and the 550hp non-emissions kitty under the hood.
I have some pics of the truck and engine/trans, much more work including weathering to complete....comments anyone....

To all, you'll notice the 3406 engine is cornbinder red and cat yellow, that's because the engine received an "in-frame" rebuild with a few new yellow pieces including cylinder head to bring her back to life after sitting for a while. I added the monster ATS turbocharger for a "performance" touch.
Here are some more engine pics.

I see you found the right place to post this rig. I like it. it looks good and I like the story about you having worked on the real truck. Looking forward to seeing more of your models.

Nice build of a heavy haulin hay wagon! Cat powered to boot. Always liked the look of the Canadian spread on the tandem.

Niiiiice! I like the way you explained the different engine colors. That really makes the model unique with your personal signature.

I like this "Canadian content" - and I also get to drive an S2600 on occasion so this project is especially interesting. 550 horse - serious power! The one I drive has less than half that.......240 hp L10.
