Just hit 90% on the updates to my 78' IH F-2575, its based off a real truck that was used to haul pole logs out of the owners personal wood lot in Northern Ontario Canada. I know the history of the original truck as I helped the owner repair the brakes while I was working in the area around 1991.
The truck was special ordered with a 425 hp 3406 and a 13 speed and started life as a roll off rig for a scrap metal dealer. The present owner's dad got the truck for cheap to cord wood, but it just sat for a few years. The truck was then converted into a heavy haul tractor, costing the owner much more than he bargained for including the drivetrain and suspension rebuild.
I duplicated as many details as I could remember from the original truck, turning out alright considering it was a 15 dollar egay glue bomb I bought years ago.
More pics to come as I continue to add some mud detailing to go along with the 4 axle 10 bunk log trailer I'm starting. Cheers, JIMMY

A good looking model, Jimmy. It looks the part of a Northern Ontario logger. What did you use for the front floats? They look quite impressive. Carl

Hey Carl, thanks for the comments. The float tires came off a Tonka toy (friction) I bought at Wallymart for 7 bucks. These toys are still stocked but they're now 8 bucks. Been looking for a cheap alternative to float tires for a couple years, since AITM and Sourkraut are routinely out of stock for Heavy truck stuff. I am in the process of cutting one of these tires down to make an aggressive drive tire... if it works out, I will have a cheap drive tire for a 5 axle paystar dump truck I have on the back burner.
Here is a pic of the real truck.. Cheers Carl. JIMMY

View Attachment Interesting, Although i find it hard to believe AITM to be out of stock on basic parts. Molds wear out & Dave is always right on top of replacing them as needed. The model looks pretty sharp, always get a kick out of Canadian axle placement regulations. The pusher axle, is that a self steering unit? Ap40

Hey Ap40, about the floatation tires, was looking for an aggressive wide tire (405mm 1:1)in vinyl a few years back, should look up AITM to see what they're stock is these days.
The pusher axle is not a steerable unit, I may look to scratch up a steerable pusher for the 5 axle paystar dumper project.
I used the air ride suspension from the Revell snap fit peterbilt, and the wheels and rims from 1/32 scale rigs.
Thanks for the support, cheers, JIMMY

Get a hold of Dan G. at Plaskit, he has the pushers you are looking for. His castings are super nice, clean & crisp.
