This short read depicts the growth of logging in Oregon. It's an interesting read and states many facts as to amount of mills but doesn't say how many mills departed after the Spotted Owl. It does give other facts. Give it a quick read. Mike www.opb.org/programs/oregonstory/logging/timeline.html

That Damn spotted owl, shows up in every historical article about logging. You can't get away from it. I lost my last major logging job because of it and a lot of major mills lost their logging contracts and folded under because of it, not to mention trucking companies. All because one owl, according to the feds needs 40 acres of timber habitat! Bull@#*%!!!!!!!!
Great article though for getting a look at the history of the Oregon Timber Industry. Thanks for posting Mike.

Spotted Owls taste like chicken! Yep! A real BS deal and our government at work. I know that in the 80's over 90 mills in Oregon alone were shut down. Mike
