All the builds I'm working on except for one are either restorations of old builds or finishing up projects I started long ago. This is a project I started in 2010 and had to put away a year later. It's pretty far along and since the trailer for it is done, it's time to complete this truck. It's a project I wanted to do for a long time. I had a White Freightliner SD kit and several DD kits. I swapped cabs between the kits and went for quite a few additional details. The daycab will be the focus of this thread. The single axle sleeper tractor will be shown in another thread. The following has been done: Air line details The interior is being detailed with photoetch A Detroit Diesel 6-71 engine has been detailed and will be installed. AITM 2 hole Budd steel wheels are being used. The cab has had the headlights lowered The wind fairing has scratchbuilt supports. Shortened fuel tanks. The frame is an inch shorter. The battery boxes are from the SD kit. Cab color is pactra RC257 Daytona Yellow. Next post will show the trailer. Here is a quick mockup as to how it sits now. A lot of the plumbing of the air lines is in place. You can see the photoetched metal bumper also. The cab: The engine I bought from STS. I'm pretty sure it's a copy of the Clint Freeman 6-71. However, it required adding parts from 8V71s out of AMT kits. Thankfully I had spares. The transmission, or at least the shift linkage, is from an Ertl International Transtar 2. I'll probably press forward with the frame first, but I'm not sure. It's been 4 years since I've touched this truck. The trailer is done I just need to re-attach some parts that fell off during moving. Thanks for looking.

. I've seen this a lot. Private fleets with the trailer marked in their name pulled by a tractor in full leasing company dress. Both of my local jobs running a reefer had me driving leased tractors, so it brings back memories 4 me. The trailer is an ebay built-up that I've redone. I modified the right side wall by adding a curbside door after studying pix of old Fruehaufs very carefully. The paint is Krylon Hunter Green over DupliColor white enamel. When finished, the trailer will sport the decals from an old AMT Ford "Pop's Produce Short Hauler" kit. The door was snatched from an Ertl Great Dane trailer. From a couple of pix I found, it matched nicely. The reefer: Pop's Produce markings are from the original issue Ford Lousville Short Hauler kit. The air system has been detailed. The trailer is done, I just have to re-attach parts that fell off during my move.

Not much progress to report. I worked on the interior a bit. The quilted upholstery detail was sanded smooth for a more plain appearance. I also threw in a couple of shots to show the grille. It's only a test fit. The grille was part of a photo etch detail set made by Harald Weber. It includes the door handles and window cranks seen in the interior pic. I'm getting a little further with the frame as well. I'll post more when I can.

The clearance lights are from the Ford Louisville kit. I learned one thing when using these, don't mount them, especially the lenses, until you are absolutely finished handling the cab.

Before moving in December, this was the last thing done to this truck. I made my own windshield glass from .005" Evergreen clear sheet. This is my first attempt at this. I need more practice at doing it but I think it looks better than the really thick kit piece. I have to play "catch-up" with this truck at the moment as both it and the trailer suffered minor damage during moving.

Thanks guys. This one is close enough to completion that I will probably finish it off after the Paystar is done.

I finally figured out one of a few things that was stumping me on this truck. Shown here are the modified fuel tank brackets which will now accept the brass fuel tank straps I have. They came with the White Freightliner p/e set by Czech Truck Modell. As you can see, some drilling and cutting was necessary to get the brackets ready. They have painted black to match the frame since I shot this pic. I was originally going to make the straps in plastic, but what I had was too thick, and I saw these and thought they looked better. More pix of my progress soon.
