I keep looking at that picture and it looks like Ballestrosie's rig out of Buckley, WA and it does have Washington plates on it. The cab guard may have been removed for this special haul as the wing tips would have impeded the turning. Looks as if the stacks didn't fair to well, once again from turning especially on a down hill grade. Mike

Here's the starting point: "Watkins Motor Lines, west coast division"! ;D That's interesting info regarding the company name, air cleaner hides some of the door lettering, looking at book I can make out the following: LESTRASSE 18285 M C LAW UNDER 68,000

Mike,
Isn't Enumclaw or something like that up there in Washington? I've been studying that pic and the information that robert supplied off the door and for some reason the name came to mind. Seems to me there was a company up there which built Commercial log homes and this load seems to fit the bill. I may be wrong but something in the back of my mind tells me that is where this rig is from and what the load is going to be used for.
There was another Commercial Log Home builder up in Kelso, WA which used to haul in the same kind of loads. You could see them along the Columbia River from I-5. Most of their logs were brought in by rail though.

I think that it's Ballestrasse and I thought he was from Buckly but Enumclaw is just a couple of miles across the river. I don't think they are for log homes but a special haul for poles or piling. To big a diameter for a log home. I'll send the picture to my old loggin buddy from Carbonado and ask him. Mike

Mike I was thinking the same thing about the cab guard and stack. My wife mom and dad lived in Enumclaw for a few years, and there was a company that built log homes up there William. It seems to me it was right of the main road and had a pretty good sized crane in there yard. Dave

Robert, that is going to be a really cool project. I wish AMT would reissue those 925, I would try to get nice stock pile of them. Dave

Basic assembly of frame started. I've put an order in with Plaskit for 5 hole steel wheels and rubber block Hendrickson suspension (along with a few other items!), will retain kit wheelbase. Intermediate crossmembers not installed yet, haven't decided if I will use kit's 2 transmissions or go with a single one, am thinking of using transmission from a Road Boss kit.

Judging from that truck in the photo I would go with the twin stick set up, as a large percentage of West coast trucks especially logging had twins. Thats just my opinion. gonna be a nice rig when all decked out.

Thanks for that info William, using the twin setup is easy since kit comes that way - I can get some more building done then.

Robert, I agree with William. If it was me I would leave the brownie in it. I also agree that it will look really nice when all is said and done. Dave

Okay! I was right. Here is the message I got from my old loggin buddy............................ Guess I could toss the pic in here so you can see what we are taliking about. Hosted on FotkiThis is Al Bellastrawses truck, the logs are going to Sweden for sailing ships masts. Picture is Al, Skip Robinson, and Doug Eagen. They had a police escort from Kaposin to Seattle. Pier 52.
