Ah, zut! An AMT "inaccuracy" - or was there a W900 series with square cornered battery box lid? Styrene panels with rounded corners laminated to kit battery tray first, then tray ends reshaped to match. New lid formed from .016 aluminum (K&S) sits in place, .020 brass wire handles. Checker plate overlay will be added later to match prototype photo:

We had square cornered ones in the 60's. Even the truck in the photo is near square................ more so than your new one. I'm not picking on you but you asked. Mike

Are you going to streach the wheelbase? The one in the picture looks about 240 or 250 inch wheel base and the kit is 210 inches I just measured a kit frames wheel base

Was wondering about the square cornered battery box, a lot of the "oddball" AMT features seem to be correct, just not very common, K123 & White Freightliner cabover steps for example. Good call on the wheelbase, looks like a stretch is in order! Since rear suspension isn't installed yet that won't be hard to do. Minor rework up front to mount shocks in a more correct fashion - I don't think a square chunk cut out of main leaf is how it was done! Small piece of styrene strip & 1/16" dia rod on top of spring provides lower shock mount. Discs made with Micro-Mark punch added to shock mounting points.

The more I think about your battery/step cover being square.............. they all ahd a small radius bend on the top. Just a small one. Mike

Got the frame stretch in place, split the difference and went with 245", which worked out to just under 1-5/8" actual inches added. Cut .030 styrene strips for close fit, lapped these inside frame web from crossmember to crossmember. Once those had cured overnight .040 styrene cut to fill in outside of web and .060 x .125 strip for flanges was added. After curing a couple days filed everything down to match kit frame. Still have to add an additional crossmember and fill in 1/4 fender holes:

I recall seeing some prototype photos of different stinger setups, are they still here on the forum? Going to fab the extendable version, just need some references. In the meantime, some minor upgrades on the stock kit cab are filling in holes behind door where stacks attach and removal of molded on wipers.
