great weathering, very realistic. just one thing, aluminum does not rust, it does fade & oxidize. so the top tank on the rad shoud have pits & a white powdery "mung" on it.
Just my 2 cents (not worth a hill of sand here in the states)

I will admit, I did get a bit carried away with the weathering. I was having so much fun that I completely let things like the aluminum radiator housing and fiberglass fenders slip by without even realizing what I was doing. Rest assured that when it was pointed out to me I gave my forehead a good slap.

Here's the scratch built stinger. Still haven't finished it since I've been working on other stuff.

Someone recommend some new boots for this old girl. She needs something a bit more rugged than the Uniroyals if she's gonna be playing in the mud. I have some ideas, but I wanna see what you fellas come up with.

Some big changes have happened to this girl, who I've taken to calling Lydia. On the downside, though, I seem to have misplaced my stinger.
That said, I decided to repaint the radiator. I know the radiator itself is aluminum, but what about the housing and grill?

I know the radiator itself is aluminum, but what about the housing and grill? Top tank & side panels are aluminum. The mesh behind the bars was chrome plated steel. The vertical bars were chromed steel or aluminum, depending how it was ordered. The most common was the chromed steel. Ap40

I have the whole thing painted up aluminum now. I'll get some mesh, and paint up the mesh and bars a bit rusty.
Know where I can get the correct size mesh pattern? I'm terrible at scale measurements, and do better at eyeing things. Unfortunately, I can't do that online.
When the radiator portion is done the tank will be bare aluminum, the side panels will be red paint flaking off of aluminum and the mesh and bars will be red paint flaking off of slightly rusting steel.

Figured I'd throw up some pictures so you guys could see what mischief I've gotten up to. Over on The Truckstop Gator suggested pit fenders to get around my "rusted fiberglass." I was resistant because I didn't have any pit fenders to put on it. After having it sit for a while I decided I'd do what any logger would do. Improvise. Built the fenders from scratch intentionally making it look like a patch job. You only barely make it out, since I just used my phone to take the pics, but I used putty to make weld lines. When it's done everything that's black will be the same red as the frame with rust throughs.

Tyson, Those look great! like any shop would fabricate on a rebuild truck. I like the radiator protector as well. On that, most rad top protectors used historically have a peak in the top center, with sloping sides. this is to shed off water & debris. I have done shop fab fenders in 1/4" thick diamond plate, flat steel then tack welded bits of expanded mesh to the flats for traction. pretty much anything goes. Nice aged look you are getting with her. If you wanted to put some knobby rubber under it to give it the off highway look i would suggest www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/rmhiwaywheelsandtires. bottom right, 12x24 off highway, 6 spoke # RM-8F & RM-8R Ap40

If I can get some diamond plate styrene somewhere I'll be making fabbing diamond plate stuff for my next build. As for the rad protector, I searched and searched for some top down reference to see what the tops looked like, and the only thing I could find was this: If you can direct me to some reference for the style you're talking about I'll incorporate that into my next build as well. And thanks for the link to the wheels and tires.

Tyson, For diamond plate in scale, Plastruct in California has a few, here is the link for the PS-155, www.plastruct.com/Pages/OnlineProductDetail.lasso?-op='eq'&CCode=PS-155 they call it HO scale, but it is very close to 1/25, they offer a 1/24 scale, but it is more like 1/8!! don't know who is measuring what, but the smaller scale sheet is very close to correct. Another possibility is JTT architectural model supplies, I have there 1/48 scale and it is closer to 1/12. but the do offer a 1/100 www.miniaturetree.com/viewproduct.aspboth companies sheets are .5mm (.020") thick styrene, can be cut with scissors or knife with ease. I will find you a few images of radiator tank protectors, as the one in your photo, is the tank, not a protector. refer to the attached image. Ap40 Attachments:

If you wanted to have shiny diamond plate, then KFS offers a nice line of photo etched sheets in a range of patterns.
