Nice job Tyson. I have one of these kits yet to be started on my self. How hard is it to convert it to a US truck? Anyway you doing a great job. Ant idea what it will be pulling? Dave

Dave Truth be told, it'd be easier to "convert" this to a US truck than it would to build it into a true-blue Aussie truck. All Revell did was take a W900 kit and toss in extras (air cleaners, roo bar, bigger fuel tanks, spider wheels, right hand drive pieces etc) and call it an Aussie truck. They didn't even bother to remove the pieces they "replaced," so you can easily just use the original pieces and build it up that way. On another note, great news. I got some more paints yesterday, so I went about tidying up my paint drawers, and I found another bottle of aluminum plate metalizer. That should hold me off until I can get some more next week.

Also, this is what I would like it to be pulling, but I'm not in a huge hurry to hook him up to anything.

Now that is one nice tanker unit. I love the way the drivers down under keep those rigs up and shining. Most all of them look to be Custom shows on wheels! The Revell K-Whooper is a good match for this rig if you could find a Cenntinial Sleeper to add to it. Want to see what you come up with on your build after seeing this picture.

I was kinda just gonna go box stock on it.
I'm not sure if the truck in that pic is part of the actual fleet or if it's contract worker that's contracted himself and his truck out to BCS. I've honestly never seen a BCS truck that looks that nice and clean around here, and I see them almost everyday. The could very well be in the process of upgrading their fleet, and the guys around here just have been on the short end of the stick.
To be honest, I think the Revell W900 snap-kit (which I'm in the process of "snapping") would have made a better BCS truck. The hood on the snap-kit is actually a bit shorter which is more typical of Aussie rigs. Since I already have plans for the snap-kit I may get another one down the line, and give it the BCS treatment.

Now thats and idea as I've noticed the revell snappers have been kinda left out of everything lately. I have a few of the original petes and K-whoopers first issues and not to mention I have taken a lot of the newer ones and made some suprizingly nice looking rigs out of them by reworking places here and there on them. I'd love to see what you do with the K-whopper.

Looking really good there Tyson! when buying these so called special trucks, it is a good way to fill up the parts box. And I think your idea of using the snap kit would work and I don't think it would be hard to shorten the sleeper if need be,

Revell & Italeri have a history of "OZ" versions of trucks that are weak at best. IMO, the closest one for accuracy is the green Western Star from Italeri. Revell has done a few other fictitious blobs such as the Peter-Marmon. The only part that was close was the grille, and to make it work Revell scaled it down to approx 1/29...... Ap40

Yeah. I've noticed that. I think it's kinda hokey to drop a few extra parts into an American style truck and call is an Aussie truck. Sure, they exist around here, and if you look hard enough you can probably find trucks around here that DO look like that, but they're not at all common.
The Revell BCS truck for example, the roo bar. While I have seen that style of bar on trucks here they're not super common. The one on the Italeri WS is what you're gonna see on BCS trucks if you go for a drive. You'd also be hard pressed to find a BCS truck with the same style sleeper the Revell comes with. The Revell Snap sleeper is starting to become more common. Saw one this afternoon at work. Most trucks here also have shorter hoods, I assume to make up for the strict length restrictions here. Something else the Revell Snap has. I honestly think with a few pieces here and there from the Revell Aussie and Revell Snap you could make a much more accurate "Aussie" truck that you would see day to day.
I still think it's a bit of a cop out to just grab an American truck and throw what basically amounts to garnish in with it and market it as an Aussie truck while ignoring what truly makes Aussie trucks uniquely Aussie.
I eventually want to make a true Aussie truck though. Probably with a Snap or a Western Star.
