William, super build, great color combination. mmmm Winnemuca NV, yep the road has not changed much but the town sure has. all lit up like Vegas 24 hours a day. horrible place to try get 8 hours bunk time.
we hauled 20 loads of crawler crane thru that town on the way to Rio Vista CA. none of us slept well on that trip.

I remember back in the 50's the truckers all called it Windy-Mutha Nevada, because it was out in the middle of no where and not very big. I was surprized at the size of it when I went back that way in 1968. Like you said, all lit up like Vegas. Even bigger now.

I also enjoy the "story behind the model", and the way model building can serve as a time machine for re-creating things we experienced and remember.
I wonder if there is any connection between this Husky and the Canadian Husky truck stops/gas stations?

From what I've read, the Canandian firm bought out the American Husky way back when. I am attaching a logo from them. They are head officed out of Ontario if I remember right. William Attachments:

Mike Mike the one for this rig was a shop cut down and had the rear dorrs re attached to the cut down trailer with no other modifacations. I also remember the ones you are talking about with the curbe side doors. Do you remember the sleeper type where the sleeper was in the drom and not the rig and was acceesable drom a small door on the drivers side? Boy those were the days. William

My bud ran a truck/trailer rig out of Washington. It was a Pete conventional and the sleeper was in the ront of the truck box. I think there was only 3 T&T's like it in the world. Mike
