I guess I should read all the posts before I reply as I just remarked on your Autocar post that I would like to see you on this GMC. Mike

Arnd,
That is going to be one tough GMC! I really like where you are going with it.

Hi Mike
that is not so bad. You know how it is you have a idea and then you start with it and forget the rest so now I have to build two truck parallel that is a lot of fun. so long Arnd

So accurate is the weathering & grime on that chassis. reminds me of laying underneath & wrenching on this type of stuff in a mud hole or snow bank.....
Far better in scale.
Very impressed with your work, just fantastic.

I have a suggestion. Why not sand down the tread on the tires so that they look well worn as well and then take the shine off of them. Just a suggestion as I love this project. Mike

Hi all I started today with the air filter. As far as I see some pics with this rectangular type on some logging trucks I decided to work out one my self. It gives the truck this special backyard touch. Tufftin you are right the tires look a bit to new and unused for that truck. I sanded them already a bit. I think the profile should be kept like it is perhaps a bit more used. Perhaps one tire sanded nearly complietly. And of course I will have to weather them. I am not sure how they will look like in the moment. Hope to do this at the weekend. So long Arnd

On the tires, although i primarily work with resin tires, the same can apply to kit or rubber.
Since you are starting with a black tire, sanding with a scotch-brite pad (Maroon works great), then apply a coat of Flo-quil "Grimy black" this really looks like rubber that has been out in the sun & weather and gives it a flat finish. then add the dirt and grime as you have done on the rest of the model.
