Hi all
I am working on a new project and I am not sure about some dimensions for the tires. I remarked that many off highway trucks have 12x24 but what are the dimensions for those tires? The rim diameter is 24 inch wide. How wide is the diameter of the tire? So long Arnd

Hi all I am working on a new project and I am not sure about some dimensions for the tires. I remarked that many off highway trucks have 12x24 but what are the dimensions for those tires? The rim diameter is 24 inch wide. How wide is the diameter of the tire? So long Arnd Arnd, The 12x24 measurement is for the old tube type tire, 24" diameter rim is correct, then the 12 is the distance from the rim seat (where the tire seals on the bead) to the top of the tread. So to get the diameter of the tire, 12+24+12 = 48" In 1/25 scale this is 48mm. The tire width for most bias ply up to the 12c24 were about the same as the standard soft tire in the Italeri kits. Now for modern radial tires, the system is more like that used in the automobile industry. ie 285 / 70R15, 285 is the tread width, 70 is the radius from the rim seat to the top of the tread (like the 12 above), R= Radial, and 15" for the wheel diameter. Hope this helps Ap40
