So, I want to a local hoby shop with my 7 year old son, Matthew, to get a jar of paint for a current truck project. While I was looking for the correct paint, Matthew was looking over the car kits. I knew by the look on his face that he really wanted to get a kit, but the shop we were in didn't have a large sellection of snap kits (hey, he's 7), so after I purchased the paint, we went to another shop which has a larget snp kit collection. He started to look over their kits, but was having a hard time deciding between the '57 Chevrolet 210 & the Chevrolet Impala Police Car. He decided on the Impala. I think he made a good choice. We finished it today after lunch. I used the hobby knife & put on the long, skinny stickers; but he did all the rest. I think we made a good team.

Mathew, Congrats on a fine looking Cruiser. What other models would you like to have? I hope you continue to build models and do it with your Dad. Jim, way to go, Good show. I taught my Grandkids how to use the sprue cutters, and they even did the washes in the seams and doorjambs, and with acryllic paints it is even easier to clean and start over again if their hand gets a bit shaky.

Thanks, guys. Gator, Matt used the sprue cutters a little bit, and he's looking forward to useing them again on the next model. Here is what he has done so far: 1/32 Mack CF600 Pumper (he wants do do another in Slime Lime Green, and that's a direct quote) The pumper is the only one I have pics of, and he & I did that back in 2009 when he was 4 years old. He also has a 1/72 F/A-18, a 1/72 X-Wing Fighter, a 1/25 Dodge Viper V10 (metal body), a 1/100 F-16, and a 1/32 Peterbilt 387 with trailer. Here's a pic of the tractor with my 1/32 Kenworth T600A: The Peterbilt 387 was a metal kit that was a real pain to put together, but since it's metal I don't mind him playing with it.

He's not raiding my stash, he's making one of his own!
The Mack CF600 tied for Second Place (with his sister's Mack CF600) at the Fulton Model Car & Truck Show in November 2009. I do plan on entering this car for him this year. I'll let you know how he does.

Jim,
I know it is important to boost their confidence level and placing in a show or contest will do that. My Grandson won three trophy's at IPMS here in Jax.

Well Matt is on his way. I am very excited to watch the kids grow in there modeling ability.
Glad to have him here with use, and to have a great dad to show him the way.

Thanks, guys. Matt's already planning his next build. He wants to do either an ambulance or a "Slime Lime" Mack CF600. I might do one of the Macks myself!
