for piano hinges I use heavy foil duct tape. A strip of it will stick to the door jamb and the edge of the door and allow it to move open and closed. Eventually it may work harden and crack but it is easly replaced carl

I have 3 types of hinges to make doors & hoods open & close. All are brass & the favorite is no longer manufactured. this photo is of the 2 types i get from a doll house parts supplier. small & solid brass, the strap hinge works great for doors & the flat hinge works well for hoods, tool lockers and so on. This was the best stuff on the planet, but it has not been manufactured for at least 7 years. solid brass sub-miniature piano hinge. It was rather expensive thru Micro-mark, but really slick to use. ;D ;D Ap40 Attachments:

I added a link to the source for the doll house hinges in the "aftermarket & parts" area of the forum.

Hi, I got this in an Autoworld cataloge in the 80's. This is the way I make hinges. Get small brass tube from Precision Scale Model Engineering, cut door from cab. Bevel edges slightly where hinge goes, cut odd number of brass hinge pieces, place brass wire in side of each to join together. Tape door in place from inside, lay hinge in bevel, dab crazy glue on each piece, alternate between door and cab. Works great, looks real. Tried the photoetched ones, didn't like them. Thanks Doug.

I remember that article! That's what got me started in model trucks. The build was a disaster, but I kept trying.

That is one reason I do not like to open the doors it just doesn't look right to me. Now to dummy the hinges that I can deal with just cut some small round tube and pin and glue.
be Well Gator

Personally i find it far more satisfying to go gonzo on the chassis, engine & external details. Ap40
