Got something done to this one. Painting Mood You can see the rear fenders reflection on the bottom edge of this one and the clear view of the clouds. I like it when my paint jobs come out like this.  Scratch built fenders and unfinished tool box and air tanks  |

Be Well Gator It will have a Lowboy behind it. This one will go to the boss when its finished. As far as a load he will have to come up with that. LOL As for painting one for ya Gator or anyone else deals can be made and money without hurting anyones pocket. Just send a PM ,all of my paint is done with a good old school can no Air Guns. |

Now that's what you called a perfect paintjob Did you after the paintjob a polish? If so, what did you use for it to polish it so shiny Eddy Here are the steps I go through. I let my paint dry on its own without quick drying paint tricks. About 3 or 4 days and a week if its Enamel,before moving on to the next step. All paint is from the can no Air Guns. Its all in the prep work. Steps on this paint job 1 Very Light guide coat of primer. Then Dry sand the body with 150 grit paper getting high spots and mold lines out of the way. Filling low areas with putty. 2 Spray Dupli Color Gray filler primer. Wet sanding with 400 grit sandpaper 3 Sprayed silver Base. No sanding on the silver I just washed it after a couple of days before painting the Burgundy. 4 About 5 coats of Burgundy then after a week wet sanded with 600 grit. 5 Four coats of candy apple red over the burgundy and it went on smooth enough it didn't need wet sanding. And there is no buffing done or waxing. With this one there wasn't any clear coat needed. However I use Model Master #2936 Enamel High Gloss,when I do need it. I used the Model Master gloss over Lacquer testing it out. After the Lacquer dried for a week,it was wet sanded with 600 grit and I had no problems with it messing the Lacquer up and no waxing or buffing was needed. Normally won't have a problem laying enamel over lacquer. It's the other way around that occurs problems. Lacquer will lift the enamel and make a mess.

Normally I use the air gun with acrylic paint in it. But this shiny paint job is something to thing about for the next time.

Mike Thanks for the information Mike because I like the Lacquer colors but I hate to try polishing them to a shine. Now that I know it wasn't just luck I'll clear with the enamel. |
