This is the latest truck in progress. I modeled it after one of Weyerhaeuser Timber Company's Peterbilt off highway fire trucks. They converted their Peterbilt 381 off highway loggers in to these fire trucks. I beefed up the suspension on mine with resin Rockwell axles and resin wheels. The frame and entire nose and hood are is scratch. I used a little window cab from AMT. The top of the hood is made from brass sheet. Cheers: Bill

that is one seriously heavy duty truck, you are going to need to give us a nice fleet shot.

Bill, I really like what I see here! Did you make the rear suspension? Thetankbody looks good and I like the handrails you built. And I agree with Rick. that is one seriously heavy duty truck, you are going to need to give us a nice fleet shot. Ap40 Be Well Gator

Looking great Bill did you make your own planetarys? I have had the oppurtunity to see alot of these over the years and its spot on. Gotta love the good old hood mount exhaust Collins pine had them forever never got to drive one but i figured the exhaust would slightly impair vision.

Hi Spimike:
The planetarys were cast by a friend who wishes to remain anonymous. They are really sweet for sure! I almost made this into a logger but went with the fire truck instead.
Cheers:

great job indeed, I think the fire truck is a great choice. sometimes we overlook all the supporting characters of the industry such as fuel trucks, water trucks, fire trucks, service trucks, crummies, pickups, line trucks etc. The logging biz needs them all and wouldnt function without them, sure most arent pretty or flashy but do their jobs when needed. Plus its something different if i did just log trucks id be bored out of my mind el quicko.
