Linn built 1/2 track or "Roadless" log trucks in the teens & twenty's and further. The factory was in Morris NY. these are rather rare, some loved them, others hated them. the largest had a Cummins HB-600 for power. I have many more print photos that need to be scanned. This one was on display at a antique truck show this year. Ap40 Attachments:

Now this one is in Woodland California at the Hendricks AG & Truck museum. Larger than the above posted logger, and may have been a logger at one time. Ap40 Attachments:

I apologize for the poor image quality, as i took these in 2008, and the digital camera was ready for replacement.
I have since replaced the camera, but have not made it back across the country to reshoot any photos.

Rick, Those are very interesting pictures. I always wonder though. How hard those were to steer?

Lombard built some of these similar but a little different and ran them at the same time as he had the Steam log tractor in service. The basics for the M3 personel carrier which the milityary used during WW2, was taken off the design of these trucks during the war, from what I read about them. Really good photos of the real thing. I have a model which I built of the Lombard version of this truck.

There is an old Linn chassis at the Simcoe County Museum near Barrie Ont. it belongs to the Historical Construction Equipment Association of Canada. I'm not sure of the year but it is awaiting a bunch of restoration. The Linns were used in northern Ontario logging operations Carl

I just posted the old lumbard which I built off of some sketchy photos which I found on the net a few years back. You can see the simularities in the two. It's located in the finished logging truck section.

I'm going to take a big guess here and say that steering these was probably augmented with clutches just like a crawler. This is just a guess. Mike
