After a little digging around in my shop I found a box with several of my old built up Mini Lindy's these were great little snap & screw together 1/87 scale models. This bus was molded in a funky metallic blue, after stripping off the brown paint, I added BMF trim to the sides, bumpers & grille. a few red & amber lights here & there. then gave it a light polish with model car wax. Here is a Chevy dump truck, neat little tandem, again striped the heavy paint off & this time gave it a dirty red paint job as so many of these trucks around here are still in use with paving companies. Ap40 Attachments:

This one is one of my favorites, again stripping off some old horrible paint & doing a lot of repair to the trailer. the rear of the trailer floor was broken on the drivers side & the rear doors were just gone. I fixed the rear & scratched out a roll up door for the back. Then covered the entire trailer in sections of BMF & gave it a light polish. The tractor I airbrushed in light Ford blue & added a few details too, including a new aluminum exhaust stack. Ap40 Attachments:

I had a bunch of these little fellows when I was a youngster too, the dump truck I remember best. IIRC there was also a US Mail delivery van.

Thanks guys! I too remember the mail van, had one. There were others that i had, but are now long gone. A 60's Chevy 2 ton wrecker, White tandem cement mixer, VW bus, Chevy p/u & camper, the Scenic-cruiser. Later in the 1980's they added a Ford CLT-9000 COE & several trailers including a flat, tanker & car transport.
These were originally called Mini Lindy & ran a series 16 for the trucks & series 30 for the cars. the cars covered all vintages & types, including hot rods, customs, hippy types, muscle and so on. They were very popular with the HO scale slot car crowd as the bodies could be adapted to nearly any rolling chassis.
After the original Mini Lindy, they were re-issued as High Rollers, then again as Snap-fit kits. the last run with the Ford CL-9000's were just listed as a Lindberg model in HO scale.
Of note, During the Mini Lindy first run, many found there way into Kellogg cereal boxes as the "prize" inside.

OK, here is the last one of my old Mini-Lindy's. The cab, rear of chassis & wheels are from the White cement mixer, the front of the chassis & motor were from another Ford COE. I added a resin winch deck behind the cab and the trailer is a 42' tri-axle low bed in resin. Ap40

Boy I had tons of those as a kid. You could get them at K Mart for next to nothing. The Ford truck and trailer were my personal favorite along with the Chevy dump truck.
Cheers:

Hi Rollers - that is the series I remember. Dump truck was my favourite, looks as though even back I liked spoke wheels and "fleet trucks".
