FYI having the caps on is like you are screaming. as for the AC with tandem drive, there were several different designs used during the AC production. It will depend on the vintage & the specs as to which design was used. It is good that your mind is made up now, a Mack AC tandem drive tractor is very rare. Most AC tandem drives were used as straight trucks for general freight such as furniture or moving trucks, dairy or tankers. An interesting note is during this same time frame, Mack was still building there own trailers. So it was very common for a tandem chain drive truck to be ordered pulling a 2 or 3 axle Mack draw bar type trailer. Ap40

Oops my mistake on the caps sorry. thought i would build something rear i did see tankers. boxes, and dump trailers. I have only seen one pulling a lowboy for i think Gerosa. I figure start with the tractor so far i have found some pics but none that show how the tandem spring was mounted to the frame of the truck considering each truck were built to specs for a particular job.Speaking of trailers where may i find good info/specs for them.

Considering that you are looking to model a goose neck low bed from the 1920's or 30's, perhaps junk yards that were in business back then & still are today, although it is more likely that they were cut up for scrap value or war efforts long ago. Look in all the usual places on web. AP40

Thanks rick now the question i have is are all the jack shaft mounts the same for all the ac tandem trucks and am i correct the center point of the tandem spring is mounted to a solid mounted trunnion sort of a half radius shape that houses the barrings etc. this pic was more of a reference point to go from.

Not sure what a "barring" is, perhaps you mean a bearing, the correct term for this on ANY tandem drive is a bushing on the trunion. Most of the AC-4's with chain driven tandems do use the same jackshaft mounting, although the front jack shaft, which has the transmission mounted to the input side. the second jack shaft resembles a traditional dual reduction axle. Attached are 2 photos of AC-4's with the Chain drive tandem. Both were found in a simple web search. Ap40
