I scratch built this 1/24 scale Mack AC-6 rigging tractor for the fellow who acquired & restored this very vehicle. Factory equipped with a Cummins HB-600, 12x24 Goodyear hi-miler rubber all around. Brass chassis, scratch built complete front & rear suspension, jack shaft, radius rods, etc. The unique 8 hole budd wheels were patterned & cast (along with just about everything else). A new radiator bank was fabricated & cast, as well as a new engine hood, which is longer than the standard hood in the old Monogram kit. The winch, which was made by Mack trucks back then, was scratch built & added to the model. I apologize for the low res images, old camera, I built this model in March of 2002, when digital cameras were in there infancy. Ap40

A few more images of the model. Again, sorry for the low res & low quality, the engine was fully plumbed in polished copper lines just ad the restored truck is kept. Ap40

Last 2, the underside with details of the brass chassis, completely scratch built rear suspension & drive components. The other photo shows the Mack built chain driven winch. Ap40

Not much of the original Monogram kit was actually used. The Cab of course, seat, dash & front cross member, along with the basic transmission / jackshaft assembly. Although that had to be heavily modified to accurately represent the heavier unit that was used on the AC-6. The engine hood is from the kit, but it had to be lengthened & one louver added to each side. The running boards & fenders are all new, as the AC-6 narrow pneumatic is quite a bit wider than the standard kit. The frame rails are brass, cross members, front & rear suspensions, axles, chain drives & radius rods are all scratched (some were cast, but not all).
The Cummins HB-600 is a heavily reworked & back dated NTC-350 form the parts bin.
On to the next one!
