I was going to use the planetary hubs that come with the Rockwell axles but got to messing around with the hubs from an AMT monster truck kit. I took an AITM wheel and Mack wheel insert. I ground out the spokes to create a rim sleeve which got a band of strip plastic added to it to tighten up the fit between the tire and rim. I then pushed the Clark planetary hub in from the rear. I have some more work to do but it should be a pretty accurate representation of a 71/91K Clark planetary.

Interesting build Ed, Although you DO know that is is physically impossible to install Clark planetary hubs on a Rockwell drive axle!!!! In terms of a Clark BD-91 v/s 71, the hubs on the 91 are much larger than those on the 71....
The rest of the build looks pretty good.

Interesting build. I sure wish I was brave enough to try one.

I was trying to use what I had on hand at the time when I began construction. Most loggers on Vancouver Island use Clark axles and I thought the Clark planetaries looked better from a detail standpoint. I guess I'll need to figure out which Clark axles match the hub I built. Only a handful of people would know something wasn't right anyway. AITM offers a wheel that looks to have a Clark planetary, what capacity is that? I think it is for one of their 14R24 tires. I'm just happy to be interested in getting this project rolling again.

As for that "other" p-drive hub AITM sells, I patterned that & had it in the RNK line, it is 100% fictitious. Back in 2006 when i sold out to AITM, all of the 11x24, 12x24 & 14x24 wheels & tires were in the deal. along with most of the 22" high floats. Ap40

I didn't make the axle used in this truck but it is one from the RNK Rockwell sets I bought years ago from you. My question was which Clark planetary does the one I built in the photo match, the BD71 or BD91.
I did Google BD71 and BD91 Clark hubs and they both (the outer planetary hubs)look the same to me but I don't work around this stuff everyday so I don't know.

OK, now i follow you. I will get you a actual dimension for the Clark BD-91 hub when i return home in a few days. From just an appearance stand point you have a 91 well done. BUT IMHO, the Rockwell hubs SHOULD be what is used with Rockwell axles.

I may still use the Rockwell hubs. I was looking at them today and they have more detail than I remember. I thought I had some BD91 hubs to compare mine to but all I can find are the BD121's. I've got a long way to go on this build. I wanted to build something that has the turntable bumks like the KW's and Pacific's that Canfor ran in Woss. Here is a link to a close version of the truck I'm building. I picked the model then went looking for a prototype. This is close but doesn't have the turntable bunks or the full water tank/cab protector. www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/jim_falconer/2008/george_bailey/file065.jpgHere is the truck I'm after but has the Pacific built cab rather than the IH one. www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/bob_dingsdale/2005/apr24/file0015.jpg

Ap40 The way I see it, if Pacific listed components on the P500 spec sheet, they could have built the real truck with those same parts. I was just trying to show what the end result would look similar to. I didn't say I was building an exact replica. Here is something similar with planetaries: www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/loeb/2005/feb_cd/file418.jpg
