Gent's I'm not going to bombard you with heaps of photos here as I know a lot of you are on one or more of the other forums I'm a member of.
My current build is a HD edition wrecker based on the Moebius Lonestar kit. I had a 'spare' wrecker body from the old Pete Can Do wrecker and thought that this would be a great project for it, even more so when I saw the HD grill and resin day cab had been released by a member on one of the other model truck forums.
I had a bit of a play with some resin casting (I've done a reasonable amount of this, but am by no means great at it) and reproduced some parts to make it a Tri Drive truck, altered the chassis length to what looked good after a mock up with the bonnet, cab, wrecker body etc in place and went from there.
I have modified the kit bonnet to suit the bullet style headlights that these trucks have and have inserted custom made PE strips into the channel along the upper edges, I also modified the front bumper by opening the 'mouth' and adding extra lights to it. The sun visor has been given the three groove styling along with a PE HD logo that I had made along with some other PE parts.
The wheels on this version of the truck are a 5 hole / spoke style so I modified the kit wheels accordingly. I've modified some tyres for the steering axle and have used some old drive tyres from Mo'Luminium for all three drive axles. All chrome on the kit (& the wrecker body) was stripped and given an Alclad Chrome finish, it's turned out ok but it's not my best attempt with this stuff. I have the HD logo decals to put in the centre of these, but I just haven't got around to it yet.
The Chassis has been painted Tamiya Titanium Gold and the body was meant to be Humbrol Metallic black, however my Air brush and I had a disagreement and I resorted to Gloss black from a spray can, which was then given a pearl clear overcoat.
I'm currently waiting on the decals to arrive from the overseas supplier as well as the PE steps for the battery box & fuel tank which are coming from Auslowe (although with how long it's taking them to get here, I could've driven the 800km's each way and collected them myself a week ago). Once these items arrive i'll be able to get the rest of the final details fitted (slam locks, running lights on the body, tail lights etc).
Sorry about the quality of these photos, these were all taken with my phone, I keep forgetting to get my camera out of the car.
