I've been working on this one (on & off) for a while now, and I figured it was time to upload some WIP pics. So far the kit has been quite nice. This is my first Italeri kit, and it really has gone together quite well. Still not a big fan of the multi-piece cab, though. Here is the look I'm going for: Apparently, the kit is an earlier version of the IVECO 190 26, but since the kit is Italian (Italeri), IVECO is Italian, and I'm part Italian; I figured that Vigili del Fuoco was an obvious choice. Here are a couple of shots of the frame & the (I think) Deutz F6L engine: I didn't have any good references for the interior of Vigili del Fuoco vehicles from the 1980s, so I went with what Italeri suggested: And a couple of shots of the body in primer. It will eventually be Testors Model Masters Italian Red (seems logical): Well, there you have it. Any suggestions are, of course, welcome; and I'll keep you up to date as I progress.

Sweet, nice to see a Euro rig being done state side. I might add a green stripe to the seats just get the colors of the flag in the cab. Yes you are correct, the engine is a Deutz, air cooled V-6. That same engine platform could be had as a V-6, V-8, V-10 & V-12, all depended on the application. Most of those engines here in the states were painted a greenish gray. I will look for a referance shot.

Thanks, Rick. If I painted a green stripe on the seat, the colors would be for Ireland (orange, white, & green); not Italy (red, white, & green).
The few reference shots that I do have of IVECO engines show them as either red or red-oxide despite manufacturer, but like I said I don't have many reference pics.

Jim, You have a good start on this one. I have a couple of this kit and one started .But I am going to eliminate the ladder and put the Scissor crane on the back of it. Making it into a mechanics truck of sorts. Oh I like you colorful interior.
Be Well Gator

Interesting project, are you going box stock with this one? Have one of these in the "stash" and was considering using ladder only on a future project, now you have me thinking it is a nice model in its own right.

Thanks guys. Robert N., yes, I'm just going "box stock" with this one. It's a decent kit. Other than trying to paint the white stripe on the red plastic I haven't run into to many issues.

I've been trying to paint the cab over the last few days, but that ridiculous red plastic keeps turning the white stripe a slight pink!! : The cab is in the purple pond, and we'll try again this weekend.

Ah, zut! C'est catastrophe! Red plastic (censored) Speaking only from what I have heard/read as I have not yet tried this myself, I have seen B-I-N primer sealer mentioned as a way to keep the red plastic from "ghosting" through paint. It is a shellac based product made by Zinsser, I got a can at the local hardware store to have on hand just in case. (So far only red plastic I have used is cab sides for the Labatt's 378)

I had some B-I-N primer, but it went bad; so I just used Flat Tan. That didn't work! Should have used the B-I-N! Someone on another Board suggested undercoating with silver, or even using decals or pinstripe tape. That might be the way to go. I'll check NAPA & AutoZone this afternoon.

Decals for white stripe is a good option, only "problem" may be need for more than one layer of decal to get sufficient opacity. If you are cutting your own stripes from blank white decal paper that isn't too bad, can get costly if multiple commercially made decal sets are needed. I used 2 layers for stripes on the recent Kingsway Louisville, have also used white decal paper for the white (over black) areas on CN railway passenger cars in N scale.
