I should have thought about the paint scheme before I started this trailer.......four colours in total! (White overall, red undercarriage/stripe, blue stripes to go be added yet and aluminum for the roof) Tamiya gloss white used on van body, same Chinese red enamel that tractor was painted with decanted and airbrushed. Next is blue. In its current state trailer reminds me of the "candy stripe" tank cars that used to be used in hydrocyanic acid service, painted overall white with contrasting red stripes for easy identification.

Thanks gator, haven't really thought about the next project yet, as I have been working away at trailers for all the tractors in the model fleet, next one "should" be a reefer to go with Navajo Peterbilt 352. One the other hand, have not built a tanker yet.......and you mentioning "lowboy" has me thinking too! Spare tire rim for Carling van made from AMT parts, chain is 40 links/inch from A-line (model railroad item) Wheels are resin ones from Plaskit with oil hubs, hubodometer is also a Plaskit part on shim brass mounting bracket. Hooked to tractor for the first time, blue paint now on, white stripe between colours will be added using strips cut from white decal paper.

Wow, almost a month since I posted an update! Work has been going on, mostly tedious items like 1/16" wide decal stripe along the colour separations. Since it is white over a darker colour, in this case blue, one layer of stripe isn't quite opaque enough.......so the stripes got done twice! Carling O'Keefe lettering made up, the shield part of logo still to be done. Beaded side texture not only gives one fits when masking, it also makes applying decals "fun"....... Dock bumpers made from styrene strip, centre drilled out. Reflectors are disks punched from polished sheet aluminum with drop of Tamiya clear red on top. Mudflaps are AMT kit parts (from "doubles" trailer set) sanded to more acceptable thickness.

Thanks you Jim - Carling O'Keefe trailer is now officially "complete" and ready to haul suds! Last few details included glad hands/electrical plug (resin items from Plaskit), lines themselves are coiled wire which slip into .021" holes so trailer can be unhooked. At the back, door retainers made using the chain supplied in AMT's flatbed trailer kit and .020 brass wire. Grimy black airbrushed on undercarriage completes the project.
