Many years ago I owned a 1:1 scale Capri II for a while, sadly it is now long gone as a result of voracious rust termites and their favourite food, road salt. I got it around the time I started driving for J&F, the car would have been about 15 years old then (early 90's). A couple years later I found a curbside model kit, "Capri II Rally" which showed a yellow car on the box art and had the same body style as mine. I wasn't active as a model builder then either although I did assemble this one - sort of. Overall black spray can paint job right over the yellow plastic, painted the wheels gold as on my car I had highlighted areas of the black wheel with gold paint. Model wheels were not the same style as on the real car but at the time I thought "close enough". (Kit's wheels were the cast aluminum "rally" wheels while mine had the stock steel Rostyle wheels with aftermarket chrome trim rings added) Somehow the model survived more or less intact through a few moves and some of of life's ups and downs, likely because it was stuffed away in a box with various other things most of that time. Found it recently and am going to try removing the black paint and rebuilding it a little more accurately this time. Will keep it as a curbside, just with some better assembly work. Here it is "as found", next stop will be the purple bath.

A Change of pace is often a good way to refresh the modeling juices. This should be a neat project Carl

This one will stay a curbside, one change I have been working on is removing second set of exaust pipes molded to underbody as my car just had the 4 cylinder engine. Of course this now leaves some holes to fill! Paint came off fairly well and window glass insert is reusable. Did have some problems getting grille out, looks like a replacement is in order, possibly with actual mesh. Rostyle wheels in photo are from a (gasp!) diecast model of earier stye Capri.
