The following are a few of the unsung hero's of the logging crews. The water truck was a must on any logging crew not only to keep the dust down in the area, but also for on site water support for the vehicles in use. They were also equipped with various pumps and hoses for the role of Fire support when the emergency arose.
They came in many shapes and sizes and were mostly built in the shops from units which had reached their twilight years of hiway use and were fitted with what ever tanks and equipment which could be scrounged up around the shop mill or what have you. They were either old on site fuel tanks reworked or they were commercially build units which came complete and ready to mount on the frame with reasonable modification.
Old fire trucks were also used which became obsolete in fire houses but still could perform in the logging industry. Many were purchased from the cities nearby and converted to operate in the woods in the capacity of fire support vehicles.
