Ya got any pics of it? Them old air starter units could stun a dead horse back to life. Smally brothers trucking in Sutherland, oregon had a few of them in their fleet, with the pull lever on the floor. Loud!!!!!
For those of you who have never heard what one sounds like, Take and electric drill hold it about half inch from your ear and pull the trigger, or hold it in front of a Microphone with the PA volume turned to 10 and pull the trigger, with your ear next to the speaker!!!
When I was younger back in the prehistoric days and living in West Virginia, I was at a truck stop with my uncle and had the priveledge of being right beside an old K whooper which had an air start on it. When it went off, my uncle swore up and down I jumped higher than a reefers roof!!!! Quite an experiance, I must admitt!!!!!

Years ago Shell oil had an air start Freightliner that dropped gas off at a service station about 1/4 mile down the road from my place. Loudest whoop you ever heard when it started up. Once you figured out what it was there is no other sound quite like it.

They were just wonderful! Sleeping in a lot and some idiot next to you fires off an air starter. Yeah! I have found memories. Mike
