Hi Guys, this is one of the two US trucks I been building on at the moment. The orginale kit was the Australian truck from Italeri kitnr:0719. I made a converion to a US logger truck. Is this is a normal setting for the fueltanks (two on each site) or must I remove one of them? here I wanna make a scratch build treerack? (Is that's what the called such thing?)Someone an idear how to make such treerack? And here below the truck like he is at the moment my stratcht builds cabguard, made of a couple of bullbars. Hi Eddy,
fuel tanks, In the US log trucks, only 1 on each side. keep the shorter ones under the cab.
cab guard or head ache rack, come in all sorts of shapes & sizes. Many are fabricated by the truck owner or a fleet repair shop.
with the Italeri Western Star cab, you should fill in the seam on the top front of the cab roof.
Great start!

Eddy,
Do you have a way of Picking up the Amt Peerless Logging Trailer over there where you are at? The Kit Number is AMT-628 and is available on line. I get mine at Tower Hobbies and usually buy them in lots of three. They come with all the west Coast (US) Setup for the truck and the trailer is included. One this web site In the Catagory Camp Four Myself and other members have posted a lot of shots of the Logging Rigs from Here on the west Coast of the US. In our area the Fifth wheel would have be removed and the Log Bunks set in its place unless you are making a convert which can run Bunks and then be converted over to a fifth for pin poppers.

Your doing a great job. I'm sure it's tough if you have never been around a log truck. Just keep on doing what your doing. Mike

If you are doing an east coast or southern logger you have a great start. Again only keep the small tanks under the cab. Log trucks do not have to have the big tanks as the distance they generally travel is not the big. You can also pick up the new Italeri Euro log trailer which can easily be converted to American.

Thanks for you're compliment Gator. This is really a nice forum. I like building US trucksmodels. (Loggers and the commercial rigs of the '70). Just one thing thats bother me is the English writing. I have'nt write so much English since Highschool in the late '70 ;D And if there something you don't understand what I'am talking about, please let me know . Greetz, Eddy

Hi guys, Still going on with this black brute Behind the cabguard will be a toolbox. ( I'am working on it at the moment. Some things are not glued together I just put some together in dryfit to show you how i'ts look when the model is real finisht. The cabroof wil also be unglued to look inside the cab. The large tanks are removed. What can i put in place? Toolboxes are chains are something ? A put a wash on the gaspipe for more detail. This we be the last update before the end picture's. I make the decals by myself on decalpaper. Have someone an idear for a constructor name? (Real or fiction) Please let me know Greetz, Eddy

This rig is coming along great. The headache rack is a work of art and fits the trucks appearance. Since this truck is set in an Eastern style I could recommend the following Lumber Companies as they are home based out of The Gulf Area. That would be Louisiana Pacific, or Cherry Creek Wood Products Inc. You could also use Georgia Pacific Corporation and it would fit. But the rig would have to be an Owner operator under lease to the Units but would carry the name. As for a Fictioness name I would use some thing like Great Western Logging, Jones River Logging, Black Mountain Logging or some thing on that nature. I made up my own unit and made decals for it also which I call ; Cedar Mountain Lumber Company. It is also a fictioness company but reflects the area I am Living in here in Oregon, because of the Post Orford, Red and White Cedar trees.
There are lots of ideas which you could use. One of them would also be take your name or your Forum name and put it on the door of the rig in the order of BOXER LUMBER COMPANY, BOXER MOUNTAIN TRUCKING or just BOXER TRUCKING. Sounds kind of cool to me. There are many name combinations to be made out of just everyday things. That's how a lot of our real logging companies here in the states came about. They were taken from the area where the operation was working at the time or from the owners name.
In Humboldt California one logging railroad named their line after the founders, Two Daughters, Annie and Mary. Thus starting the Annie and Mary Rail Road out of Arcata, California. It was later changed to Arcata and Mad River Rail Road. Arcata for the city of Arcata and Mad River for the main river of the area of operation. The Rail Road had two different names but the same same letters, A.& M, R.R. I know this Rail Road very well as I went part of my Grade schooling in Blue Lake along the rail line.
So you see Company names can come in any form.
William

Eddy, This is looking better. A tip for the exhaust guards. I use a felt tip marked and try to get it into the holes and depressions and then wipe it off with a paper towel . Oh and I dislike the multi piece cabs because they put the joints in the worst places.

Looks great! I think it resembles one of the Pelletier trucks, from that American Logger TV show!
