Truckpaper.com is a great site for inspiration. In March '11 they had an ad for this tough looking '05 Pete 378 daycab tractor. I just had to build something similair to that! OK, simmer down here, Joris. You don't have that much experience with scratchbuilding and you need to do a lot of that on this project... Also, all my (then) available Pete 378 hoods I had converted to 379-119 hoods not that long before. Oh well, a 379-119 I like a little better anyway. I went ahead, shortened the frame, scratchbuilt the daycab panel, battery box, exhaust pipe elbows, rear fenders and headache rack. The forward-set fuel tanks are from an RoG 359 kit, the side step-toolbox is a P&P Vintage item while the one at the headache rack's base is from Ebay. I also used a kit I had bought on Ebay; when it came in I found out that the previous owner had made a sloppy start on the frame, with a misaligned crossmember that was impossible to correct; it might even helped making the rear end of the truck look warped (that and my troubles with cutting styrene in straight lines). Unfortunately I had smudged up the paint on the hood somwhere in the building proces, and didn't quite use the right color in correcting it.... P&P Vintage also supplied the new style dashboard and steering wheel (master part by Tim Ahlborn, thank you Tim and Eric), which is a real musthave resin part for the builder who wants to build an '05 and up Pete!

Thanks! By the way, the touch ups on the hood I redid last week or so, now they match the original color.

Those smugges look to be quick fibre-glass patch jobs on the hood. Great looking build.

Thanks everybody! Those smudges on the hood have been an eye-sore for me for quite a while before I corrected them, but you're right William. They could have resembled a quick fix at the company's body shop. It is a work truck after all.

One tough tractor for sure! Lightbar is an excellent finishing touch. Are the wide front tires from Revell's Bill Signs Pete kit?

Thanks Robert! This truck has been screaming for that lightbar for over a year, I finally ordered it a few weeks back. The tires are Italeri trailer tires; if you'd put on the Bill Signs/Can Do items from Revell, they would look too grotesque. The RoG tiers are apparently very well suited for use as super single drive tires on the other hand.

Joris, The change in the front floats looks good. The light bar really sets it off. Now you need a lowloader, with a haevy load on it !! :-)

Thanks guys! Took some time, but I finally finished it. Yes, that lowloader definetely needs to get build, but I have too many things on hand at the moment. Hopefully, when things have calmed down later this year...
