This Peterbilt 377 was a real fun project. I started out with your basic Italeri kit, but I wanted something different. After it was finished, a well-known Peterbilt fan and kit builder told me I had captured the essence of an American fleet tractor; great to hear that! ;D
The frame got shortened (but not enough, in retrospect), an incorrect 36" flat top sleeper box instead, a custom headache rack I picked up on Ebay once, exposed fuel tanks with RoG steps, Varashield on the sleeper roof and a single stack, with a (scratchbuilt) transition panel on the other side. Eventually I glued the hood shut, the thing seemed warped. Too bad really, I tried real hard to make that Detroit 60 Series look like a rebuilt engine...
I spraypainted the truck bright yellow and used KFS decals, as well as the Roadstar Ranger decals from the Italeri 378 reissue kit. I like the PacLease and POW-MIA badges a lot on this truck.
When putting the transition panel on the cab, I used some masking tape holding it in place. Of course, when I took that tape off, the paint came off as well. I corrected it with a brush, but you can still see the mark.
The AMT flatbed I built specifically for this tractor, the color of the frames are the same. I know, this flatbed is screaming for a load of pipe/lumber/steel/you name it...
