This is an old log loader Jammer which I built from scratch a year or so ago. These units were mainly used in conjuction with railroads and had their own self propelling units built under neath which could be lowered for movement on the rails and raised when the in loading position so log cars could be pushed underneath along the rails. They were then pulled forward one at a time by a Lokie to be loaded for transport to the mill. With the advent of the truck making its way into the woods, some of these machines were pulled of the rail and sat up on level ground in a stationary place. The turns of logs were brought down to them by the new crawlers and cats which were also invading the woods, at the time, to be loaded on the trucks which in turn would begin their journey to the mills. The model is 1/20th scale an everything on it is Evergreen Plastic, brass rod and plastic tubing for hoses. The cables are made from Nylon surveying twine, which was stained to represent the hay wire of the time. I weathered the whole unit to show the years of use and abuse in the timber industry.

As always, a beautiful piece of art. Nice to see the pictures this size so I can really see the entire machine. Mike
