For all practical purposes this rig is finished except for some minor details and finding another head light unit for the drivers side which some how got lost in the Rat Room. This truck has all the plumbing done for the Water cooled brakes and the trailer, and an extended reach for hauling poles. When I worked for Emerson back in the middle 60's, They had three of these rigs which ran strictly on the highway between Arcata California down Highway 101 to San Francisco and all points south. I chose to build #3 as she was the only all yellow rig in the Emerson Fleet at the time. The others had a green topped hood which ended at the rivet line above the Peterbilt Logo on the side. The trailer was the subject of converting the Amt Peerless Roadrunner trailer to a more believable unit which I previously posted her on the forum. The rig also has steerable front wheels which I salvaged off a parts box ERTL 4300 International. In fact the whole rig is a conglomerate of spare parts which I had in my various parts boxes such as AMT Hood and Revell Cab. The grill is off an old California hauler which I had to add hinges to to make it operate instead of being a put on take off hood. The exhaust system is made from jointed straws and evergreen Plastic. The Bunker Water Tank sitting on the frame is off the old MPC Lil Tanker unit which I modified into what you see. The Decals I made myself from actual Emerson Photos of one of their rigs, and modified them to get the early Emerson Door Logo from the mid 60's.

I did all the small wiring with some Nylon stitching thread for sewing couch covers and what not for upholtery. The sockets are made from Evergreen tubing. Also a good pair of tweezers helps!

Ok, but i am a bit confused, with the title of the post being "K-Whopper" and the truck you have done is a Peterbilt........
Is this another test oh great logging wizard?

Nice clean build and amazing that a lot was from various parts. I never realized that the AMT and Revell cab/hood combo would work. I know that the Revell and AMT KW W900 hoods and cabs will work together so this is good to know if I decide to fix up a parts box Pete. Great job, Mike

Mixing & matching the revell to AMT Pete & KW parts seems to yield some more common combinations. Especially the short hood W-900.
Admittedly, I have built a few Peterbilt's in my youth, even with chrome and such....sigh.....
then reality hit and Mack took hold

Yeah guys it a peterbilt, I admit. Most of the parts are pete and KW as they seem to match up real well in a build. I wanted to see how close I could get with original and it seems that using the Kw and combining with the Pete unit was the way to go. A more authentic looking logging rig with the heavy duty look. The KW donor had the right frame length which was cut into the center if the pete frame with Hendrixson Rear Ends for a drive system. Also the cummins engine from the AMT K Whopper with revell parts added, to beef it up. The hinges on the hood are also Kw as the hood is just a bit narower at the front than the revell unit. In all it was a very fun build and makes for a very convincing model of a Redwood hauler from the days gone by. Thje mirrors are brass wire copies of the plastic Pete West Coast units. The only thing which is not Pete or Kw is the front end which as I said in the opening intro is off an ERTL International. Sorry about the desception.
Oh and on more thing, the seats and a few of the small parts in the interior are also from the Kw kit. Not many high back seats around when the 1:1 was on the road. The twin stick shifter is also from The KW kit.
Hokus Pokus, Sim Sal oh beam!!!! Poof!!!!!!!!!!
