Here is my next log truck. It is built mostly out of the parts box. The hood is a P&P 358. The cab is a original issue little window. The frame rails are scratch built with kit cross members. When I started this truck I was looking at Mike Shelley's glider kit. I thought why not so I took it a little farther and put Mack rear ends and suspension under it. Attachments:

Looks good Mark. Funny tho as I have a Pete laying on my bench that I would just love to drill the bolts for the frame suspension out on the rails also and make it appear to being assembled in my shop. Don't know if this one will get it but it's a fixture in my mind. Mike

Oh! Not different. There was a ton of kit trucks, "Gliders" built with Mack bogies. I drove a '69 KW kit that ran them. It was kinda run what cha got when they home built those big rigs. Mike

Mike is right in this area in the 50s and early 60s Macks were very plentiful and when they got wore out or wrecked they got kitted to what ever. I actually rode in a 65 352 that had a iron lung 300 with a 5x4 and Mack bogies that I plan to build some day soon I am already collecting the parts. Since this truck is built out of the parts box like a lot of my trucks are I thought why not! This truck is quite a conglomeation of parts It has a 250 Cummins from a Freightliner cabover with a turbo to make it a 280 I believe and a 5x4 boxes out of a Kenworth with the Mack bogies and you know the rest

Nice, well then i will have a purpose for all these lighter weight Mack bogies from the ERTL DM-600 & DM-800 kits as well as the AMT R model. For reference, the 2 DM kits have a wide spread 55K rear bogie. The AMT Mack R & Cruiseliner COE have the lighter 34K bogie. It is far easier to super detail the ERTL 55.
If you want bigger, AITM has the 65K camel back & the 80K hard bar, these work very well with the bigger 12x24 rubber.

This baby looks a lot better in person than it does in the photos. Either way gonna be a sharp build.
