Great pics. Whats the story with the log jumping from the truck.

Thats what happens when you get in a hurry and forget to bind the front log on top. Ther top rear was bound but the front top was forgotten on the landing. On the slight turn the driver was on there was a slight dip to the right and the log shifted and rolled of at on end. At least the trailer stayed on its wheels.

Dave,
The last few pics are of Wayne Bare trucking down in Arcata, California. My step Dad drove for them many years before retiring. I cut my teeth at driving on one of these trucks, tought by the man himself Wayne.
The Top two are of a truck which Mike Brundine a friend from Eugene drove for many a year. The Middle truck belonged to Ron Belzen of Cottage Grove and was taken at the Big Y Truck Center in North Eugene.

Love the double duty flats. A lot of rigs in the NW ran equipment like that to haul boards one way and a liquid back. I wish I had a photo but there are some that have metal tanks on the bottom with a flat on top. Mike

Ive vseen those rigs around up here. Boise Cascade had a few of them in the Willamette Valley. Emerson and Cal-Pacific had them also in the Humboldt, Del Norte and trinty area of California. They were unique set ups in their selves.

Another Relic. My Nephews truck which he drove for Don Imperiale out of Fortuna, California. Thats my boy Bitner1970 standing at the door. When this truck was bought Don felt it was under powered with the Cummings engine it came with so he replaced it with a Cat unit.

Dave,
When that freightliner type came out for that year Belzen got the first one in Lane county and Oregon as far as that goes. He ran it for many years and now I'm not sure if his son has it now or what. I thought I saw it over here on the coast a few months back but i'm not real sure. It ran the Willamette Valley up and down contract hauling for Bohemia and Pope and talbot for many years.
I got the picture shown here the day the truck came into the White Freightliner shop new in North Eugene at the Big "Y" truck shop. Was quite the rig for its days.
