here are a few from hauling the various cranes around the country from site to site for erecting the wind turbines. This particular one is a Leibherr LR-1400, 145,000# load weight. The top out cranes are the largest we had, Manitowoc 16000, max capacity 440 ton, 3.5 million each. we had 7, to move 1 we needed 21 trucks & trailers, with 4 being over weight & over dimension. the house on the M-16000 has 4 legs / jack cylinders, so it raises up, back the trailer under it, set it down on cribbing, chain & go. Ap40 Attachments:

to assemble the house & carbody, we backed the carbody (lower 1/2) under the house, pined the 2 together with 4 rams, then use the house to pick the whole thing up off the truck. 21 loads, 4 Iron workers, 1 Supervisor & 1 assist crane w/ operator, 18 hours & the crane is ready to work. Mike The guys i had on each site were great, some of the finest Iron workers, crane operators, truck drivers, riggers & millwrights form what ever local i was in. I don't miss being gone 300 days a year, but the work was very rewarding. better to be home & able to reflect & build models of it all. Ap40

Rick, Thanks for posting those pics. Those rigs are mostly after I got out of the trade. If you have any specs or info on any cranes or big excavators please let me know. What I want to do is get an idea of the basic foot print and things like the gantry and mast, the size of the drive sprocket and idler and the track pads. Then I will be my version of a crane. based on that info. That is how I did my excavator in the late 90's.
Thank again for the pics, Be Well Gator

It can be, although it was rarely done by just the driver. everyone helped out, as we all had a deadline to be hook ready at the next site. with 7 or 8 guys tossing 14 to 16 chains, it usually went fast. we only used 1/2" & 5/8", and only ratchet binders.
