Volvo N12 Swedish Logging Truck

Hi Guys and Gals, haven't been here for a while but I've started a new project that will fit this forum rather well, or so I think. Out of the Ertl US Volvo N10 I'm building a Euro Volvo N12 Swedish Logging Truck. I had an old Jaymar fiberglass N12 cab and hood laying around but instead of cleaning that up I only used the fenders to alter the Ertl hood. As this makes a hood of the mark II Volvo N12 I also have to lenghten the cab with 4mm. The cab has allready been cut. The drivetrain and back part of the chassis will come from a Revell F12, the uprights from the new Italeri Logging trailer and the crane will be an Emek/Italeri/KFS combination. Hope to have lots of progress to show you during the weekend.

Good to see you posting here again. This looks to be an interesting project! What do you think of that Italeri log trailer?
And yes it fits here, but then so will anything else you build that has wheels or tracks!!

It actually is a very good replica of the original Gsodam trailer. Maybe the uprights could have looked a bit sturdier. Atleast it is not another version of the old Cardi trailer. Follow the link below to a picture of the original:

A small detail kan make a big change. I altered the chrome N10 grille into a black N12 version. Still needs a matt clear coat. The cab extension is also going as planned. More on that later.

As promissed, the progress on lenghtening the cab. The black round pieces help creating the roof curveture. The fixing tabs are longer then the 4mm wide strip so that the back part of the cab will fit over these tabs as well. Or so is the plan, first the glue will have to harden but maybe tomorrow some sanding can be done.

I think that would still be the same cab. The mark II cab had 150mm more room inside lenghtwise but not all of it came from lenghtening it. 150mm is 6mm in 1:25 scale, I've tried that but it looks far to much when compared to the real thing. So I stuck with 4mm which makes it look correct. I've uploaded some NL12 drawings to our Fotki site:
