Well the first step has been put in to motion as the AMT Paystar 5000 Dump Truck showed up in the mail today so I am happy. Now the trailer needs to get here.
What is up with these retarded tires in this kit?

You mean the standard Military type tires which has been in the kit since it first came out back in the sixties? There was alot of questions raised about that back when it came out, but was never fixed. I guess the consummer concerns weren't a determining point when ERTL first started making the rigs.

Speaking of wheels I have already hit my first snag. The entire chrome parts sprue is missing from the kit. Going to make it kind of hard to build. I have some calling around to do to get this fixed. I am not building it with stock wheels ant tires but I do need the other pieces obviously.

Ryan, Don't panic! Use you head and think a minute, You are building a one off for the woods. You can use the radiator surround and fill it with wire mesh and put thin bars over that. for a bumper just build a big heavy looking hunk of steel. For mirrors get an Italeri parts pack. Rims and tires I suggest AITM! and you can build it like it is just coming out of the shop. If you don't feel up to a weathering job! And that is my suggestion!

Ryan, The only small part on the chrome tree that my be tough would be the door handels on the outside of the doors. You can also post a "parts needed" in the want adds. State what you need & I suspect that a few of our members are willing & able to help. Gator is spot on for wheels & tires, use AITM, Try RM-8F & RM-8R. Follow this link & scroll down to the bottom for 12 x 24" off highway wheels & tires. www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/rmhiwaywheelsandtires.htmlAp40

I will likely go that route. Things that I am planning to part out of this kit include tires and dump body if anyone wants to do some trading.
I was planning to go with AITM for tires and wheels anyway and I wish I new what to buy for plastruct or evergreen pieces to build what I want.

Progress so far. Going with two hole budds up front. Tires are still undecided. Peerless trailer 5 holes on the truck and trailer. With custom hubs. Some ideas Did anyone ever put an engine that was not an International in these?

Custom built headache rack I am working on. It will have more over cab protection as well as a little platform that it is mounted too where I will also have a water tank mounted for the brakes. Tapered stinger I am working on. Still playing with the log bunks but so far I have extended them to about 10 feet or slightly more. Also I am working with some brass pipe to build heavy duty stakes out of. Cab is just resting in place here. I was just mocking up stuff.
