This is one of my older but still favorite builds. It is the old AMT Alaskan Hauler, with a few modifications to a dump truck. The front guard clearly needs a black wash. Y'all may have seen it a few years ago on another truck site. I know my building skills need improvement and there are far better truck on this forum, but I intend to clean this old boy up add a bit more detail and bring it up a notch. I didn't post it under in progress since I do considered it finished. Just in need of a little TLC. Please feel free to make suggestions.....

Robert, Nice mix & match, timeless look of the round bottom trailer reworked into a truck bed.
Suggestions, well if you do a rebuild or an update of sorts, swap out the tiny wheels & tires for some 11x24's from AITM on the rear, and add some fat high floats up front.
On the cab, the time spent to paint the window gaskets black is well worth the effort, remember glass on the prototypes all have the glass n a rubber gasket to isolate the shock of driving & to prevent breakage.

Robert, I don't see anything wrong with your building skills. That is a pretty good looking dumper! I like the dump body on that. it is a versatile light to medium duty dump bed. But if you are planning on a rebuild I would makes the changes that Rick and William suggested.

I think it looks great as is. If I would change anything I would change the tires as already suggested. You would be amazed at the difference larger float tires will make. Mike

I really like this build. You picked some odd colors that really do well on this unit. Mike

I'm right in line with Rick,s thinking as well, beef up the wheels and rubber detail out a few items with black or blackwash and you got it,really nice use of parts alsotake another look at your sideboards, excellent idea with the double board with mitred end just weather it down a little and it will give the wood some depth ....diggin' it!!

Thank you, I meant it when I ask for tips and y'all are very helpful. The paint was left over from my military modeling, with a gloss coat added. The tires will be a definite change, but will have to wait since I just ordered 2 Lonestars. Limited budget.
I like my models to look just "slightly" used. The idea to weather the side boards and bring out the grain is a good one. I will have to play with it. Thanks Superdog!
After looking at the pics, I see I need to do a little re-alignment on the front.
Rick, thanks for including the tire size and source, it really helps an amateur like me!

No pics yet, but the truck is "tore down." I have started the re-build. I am trying to use tea to weather the wood. It is an old trick to make things look antique. (Yes, my wife and I did own an antique shop, but we were honest.) I have used a black wash on several areas including the exhaust shield, made some new license plates, fixed the hood, and re-aligned the wood overload boards on the bed. Taking it slow and just enjoying it until I get the new wheels/tires ordered. I have decided not to weather it, since it is "a re-build just out of the shop."
