Hi all
This is a project I just came up with it because I was searching some parts in my “ware house” and instead of the parts I find an old Autocar Dump Truck Kit from AMT. The dump box was missing but the rest was untouched. And the idea was there Autocar would be a grate project for an off high way logger. I would say it is not a typical logging truck but as some of you told me many logging trucks were home made from everything that they got and what was lying around the barns.
Ok let us start it. The frame was glued together excepted from the rear cross members. I have to decide first how long the frame will be and were the rear axel will be fixed. The fenders were added. The cab was put on the holders to see how it fits. The front grill is as Rick told me from the 70’es so I decide to rework another on to make it a mind 60’es truck. I will have to put it bit lower in to the frame so that the hood will be straight again. The rear axel is a heavy duty Mack and is the right one for off highway logging. Well a little problem will be the tires. My off road rubbers look grate and fit fine with some self made 5 holes buds but the right ones would be some 12x24 rubbers. The right ones would be the tires from the Revell Hanomag Trailer. They the right size the rims, the tires and they are real rubber. I will have look to get 18 of them for that project. As for the engine I am not sure jet but DD 8V-71 or a Cummins NHC or a Cummins 903 well we will see.
Well the exact type and year of this truck is unknown jet I will wait to see how it will develop and how it will look like in the future.
So long Arnd
