No recent updates for this one, waiting for resin order from Plaskit which will have 5 hole steel disk wheels and 54" (US) spread rubber block Hendrickson suspension, along with a bunch of items for other projects. So "parked" for now but certainly not "forgotten"!

Cool project Robert, I like this one a lot! Are you going for the mangled stack(s) as well?

I am going to try and replicate the rig's appearance in photo as closely as possible, damaged stacks will be a challenge, aluminum tube should be a good starting point but may have to thin even that down some to get the flattened part to look right.

Robert,
Try using aluminum foil wrapped and shaped around the stack to get the shape. pull it off and then you have tube you can crush into any shape..

Looking like a fun project to follow along with. I never would have thought of western red cedar as strong enough for ships masts but who knows. anyway looking great so far. mike

This is one which has been on "hold" for a while, back into active status now. On wheels for the first time, Plaskit 5 hole steel disks used with the old AMT tires from kit (cutting out those centres brought back memories!) Styrene channel clamped in a form then heated/cooled to make air tank brackets. Tanks themselves are styrene tube as it was easier to make them that way than fill & sand 2 piece kit tanks. Plaskit rear suspension also used, Hendrickson rubber block. Valve stems on wheels are .020 brass wire.

Wow! Knowing how much you have raised the bar on several of your most recent builds. I have no doubt. That this one will once again raise the bar on the quality of workmanship and level of detail!

Off again/on again - been "on" for a while finally. Primer on cab & hood, parts from AMT's log trailer kit used for bunk with styrene tube stinger.

Bumper is kit part sanded to more scale thickness, square holes filled and bolt heads replaced. Filled in area at spotlight locations removed, spotlights from kit chrome parts tree used. Mirrors a combination of wire, aluminum sheet (strip cut for light bracket) and mirror heads from "snap" W900 kit, turn signal lights from "snap" 359. Visor is also aluminum sheet, set in place with tape for photo. Final installation will use .025 rivets from Tichy Train Group.
